Tatiana López Ayala

Tatiana López is a researcher at the Department for Social and Economic Geography at the University of Cologne with regional expertise on Latin America and South Asia. She holds a post-graduate degree in Latin American Studies from University of Cologne and her research interests encompass strategies for sustainable development, women empowerment, promotion of labour rights and diversity. Her current research focusses on labour rights and workers’ empowerment in the global garment and orange juice value chains. Her professional experience encompasses positions as a DAAD-fellow at the United Nations Institute for Training and Research in New York and as a project coordinator for Brazil for the German Child rights NGO “Kindernothilfe”. Moreover she is a qualified trainer for intercultural-cultural competence and has carried out intercultural and diversity trainings for the German Trade Union Federation as well as for the German non-profit organization “Engagement Global – Service for Development Initiatives”. Tatiana is fluent in  English, Portuguese and Spanish. German is her native language.
