Press Release on 2019 Solstice Retreat in Vermont

2019 solstice retreat on peacebuilding and peaceful coexistence for permanent missions to the UN held in Vermont

The Grace Initiative Global, in collaboration with Yale Divinity School and Harvard Refugee Trauma Program, conceptualized and implemented a 2019 Solstice Retreat on Peacebuilding and Peaceful Coexistence, including empowerment of women. Vermont organizations, which participated: Smokey House; Merck Forest and Farmland; Vermont Land Trust; and, WildRoots Farm. In addition, Grace Initiative thanks: Mr. Brian Campion, Vermont’s State Senator for Bennington County and Director of CAPA Program on Governance, Bennington College, for his welcome remarks; Dr. Maurice Harris, Communications Director Episcopal Diocese for opening statement; and, Ben & Jerry’s Foundation. Equinox Hotel in Manchester, VT., provided the venue for the retreat, which took place, 13-14 December 2019. Outcomes of the retreat include a report on reflections on strategies for peacebuilding, peaceful coexistence. In addition, participants proposed inter alia, innovative projects to address heightened concerns, especially for the UN Security Council in 2020.
